John Lennon's 1969 monkey bike fetches a cool $80,000

John Lennon’s 1969 monkey bike fetches a cool $80,000

The anonymous buyer paid over 15,000% of its original price

Auction house H&H Classics had put up the sale of their acquired 1969 Honda Z50A. A bike that was once used by John Lennon, the legendary English singer, songwriter, musician, and peace activist who also co-founded the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music.

The auction was recently held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, a town in the West Midlands of England. Experts believed the bike will fetch at least £30,000 (more than $40,000), but to everyone’s surprise, the winning bid was almost twice of the estimated price, at £57,500 (about $79,600).

Video: Classified Motos Builds Custom Honda Bike For The Walking Dead

Fans of the hit AMC show The Walking Dead understand that the show’s zombie culture lends itself to the belief that there’s nothing more important in the show than to survive. Granted, it’s really up to the show runners and who they decide to kill off on any given episode, but if you’re in their good graces, then you’re probably safe from having a zombie chomp away your limbs.

Norman Reeds has been one of the main cast members of the Walking Dead and if you remember earlier in the series, his character, Daryl Dixon, had a motorcycle to help him hunt down zombies. He ended up losing it at some point in the series, but now it appears that Reedus ready to jump back in the saddle with a new custom bike created by custom builder Classified Moto.

So how did Classified Moto get the gig? Well, it turns out that Reedus himself suggested the tuner to the producers since he already had a history with the company from a previous custom bike it did for him in the past. In addition, Classified Moto has also had an imprint in Hollywood, having done projects for a number of other celebrities in the past.

So at the request of Reedus and with the blessing of the show’s producers, Classified Moto created a pair of spartan Honda bikes that should fit right in with the post-apocalyptic world of the show.

Check out the video above detailing the process behind the creation of Daryl Dixon’s new bike for the show. Hopefully, he doesn’t lose this one like the last bike he had. Seeing him riding a bike with a crossbow in tow and hunting down zombies will probably end up becoming the least depressing part about that show.

Michael Schumacher crashing his Honda

They say no racer tries hard enough if it doesn’t eventually end up crashing, but we have no reason to question Michael Schumacher’s ambition as these pictures reflect that best.

Schumi keeps on going with the two-wheeled fun.

We are witnessing what seems to be an overall improvement in the racing performance of the recently-entered motorcycle pilot and this can only be a good thing, but not necesarily with good results.

As Michael Schumacher seems not to be afraid of anything, his confidence increases and meets the bad side of racing on two wheels instead of four. During the second run of the German Superbike Championship, the famous racer was the protagonist of a slip that fortunately didn’t had any consequences and allowed him to finish the race.

On the track of Nurburgring Schumi slipped in the 11th lap when he situated on the seventeenth position. Even though it suffered no injuries and the bike wasn’t heavily damaged, the former Formula 1 champion confesses:

“It’s been a shame because I was enjoying. I braked too early with the front and I ended the steering. Race one had gone very well and finished on the 22th position.”

And this is how the former Ferrari rider checks its second fall. The first had taken place on the same bike, a Honda CBR1000RR, on the track of Oschersleben.
