2013 Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom

Like its predecessors, the 2013 Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom offers an interesting mix between the classic style of the old cruisers and modern technology. Among the modern features offered by the new Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom you’ll find a brand new powerful 1400cc engine in the classic transversal V2 architecture, ride by wire, cruise control, ABS and traction control.

The company says about its new California 1400 Custom that is “the “bad” sibling of the California family, in total contrast in terms of temperament and style.”

Talking about style, the motorcycle features a classic cruiser design: two catchy wheels, shiny engine, comfortable saddle and imposing handlebars. All merging together to form a typically Italian design language which inspires power and sportiness.

Other notable styling details include the two-seater saddle boasting the hot-pressed Eagle logo, the drag bar handlebars with light-weight supports and the original rear shock absorbers with external tank.

Both the 2013 Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring and Custom models are built with performance and luxury in mind. The motorcycles are packed with a long list of modern features like a brand new powerful 1400cc engine in the classic transversal V2 architecture, ride by wire, cruise control, ABS and traction control.

Perhaps it goes without saying that Moto Guzzi’s engineers have spent a lot of time to develop perfect ergonomics for their new Touring. Thereby you get a comfortable riding position, proper aerodynamic protection and generous load capacity.

As far as style goes, the Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring is equipped with a “Patrol” windscreen, supplementary chrome-plated headlights, 35 liter panniers, a pair of tasty exhaust pipes, engine and pannier guard kit.

The bikes are hand built in the factory in Mandello del Lario (Como, Italy), so you can expect to first class craftsmanship and reliability.

2012 Moto Guzzi California 90 Anniversary

To celebrate its 90 years anniversary, Moto Guzzi launched a special edition on its California model. The Moto Guzzi California is available in a special two-tone anniversary paint job. The bike has also a large ‘Guzzi’ logo on the tank, ‘California 90’ decals on the side covers plus an aluminium special edition plaque.

Among the features offered by the Moto Guzzi California 90 Anniversary you’ll find a large windscreen and waterproof hard panniers. Both the panniers and the engine are protected by chrome guards.

The California 90 Anniversary is powered by an 1064cc V-twin, engine that delivers 73.4by hp @ 6,400rpm and 69ft.lb of torque. The stopping power is handled by dual-floating discs pressed by two four-piston Brembo calipers up front while a two-piston Brembo piece takes care of the rear.

The motorcycle is offered with a starting price of $15,990.

2012 Moto Guzzi California Vintage

The first generation Moto Guzzi California was launched in 1971. After 35 years, the company decided to celebrate its long lasting model by creating an exclusive Vintage version.

The new 2012 Moto Guzzi California Vintage is basically a retro cruiser with a pronounced Italian style. You’ll especially like the classy windscreen which is decorated with a stainless steel strip. It’s also worthy of being mentioned that the bag is made from rotational nylon, waterproof, lined and protected with chromed steel tubes.

Compared to the standard model, the special edition California Vintage comes with bigger tires and a new engine. Talking about the engine, the 2012 California Vintage is powered by the company’s 1100cc 90° V-Twin unit which has been borrowed from the Breva 1100.
The Moto Guzzi California Vintage is offered with a starting price of $18,995.

2013 Moto Guzzi California 1400 Touring and Custom

The 2013 Moto Gruzzi California 1400 made its official debut at the EICMA. The bike is offered in two versions, namely Touring and Custom and features a tasty mix between the retro and luxury styles.

Unfortunately Guzzi’s reputation is not exactly stellar as its past motorcycles weren’t able to make a good impression due to their poor reliability and doubtful mechanics. The new California however, seems to have the potential to repair the company’s reputation.

For the starters, it features a gorgeous design and it’s powered by a strong 1380 cc oppose-twin 8 valve engine which delivers a maximum output of 96 hp and 120 Nm of torque at 2750 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a six sped transmission. Other notable features include ride-by-wire, traction control and selectable engine mapping - Turismo, Veloce and Pioggia.

The Moto Guzzi California 1400 is built on a fresh double cradle steel tube chassis and sits on front 16 inch and rear 18 inch wheels wrapped in with 200/60 and 130/70 tyres. The bike is kept in check by a set of Brembo brakes with ABS.
