Triumph has officially revealed the brand new Speed Triple RR, the semi-faired version of the Speed Triple RS. New look, new semi-active Ohlins suspension, new riding position to turn it into the ultimate sports road bike.

Triumph Speed Triple RR Revealed

After teasing us with brief and short-on-detail videos, Triumph has officially revealed the brand new Speed Triple RR.

Based on the recently launched Speed Triple 1200 RS, the RR version adds a small bikini fairing, Ohlins semi-active suspension, stickier Pirelli Super Corsa SPV3 tyres and a new riding position, courtesy of clip-on handlebars that are lower and further forward.

The basic mechanicals remain the same, with the 1200cc triple-cylinder engine producing 180bhp and 92.2lb ft of torque, driving through a six-speed gearbox with up-and-down quick shifter and slipper clutch.

There are five riding modes, including a rider-customisable and track mode. ABS and traction control are lean-sensitive.

The big change over the RS is the Ohlins Smart EC2.0 semi-active suspension, which should sharpen the already class-leading handling in any conditions, whether on road or track.

There are other cosmetic details to drool over. Gone are the signature twin headlights, replaced by a single round unit with LED lighting. There are carbon fibre details surrounding the petrol tank, fairing and cockpit and a carbon fibre front mudguard.

The riding position is completely different: the clip on handlebars are 135mm lower and 50mm further forward than the 'bars on the Speed Triple RS while also being narrower. Foot pegs are higher and further back also.

Two colour schemes are available: red/grey and white.

In all, the RR is a much more aggressive package than the naked RS and Triumph is calling it the ultimate sports road bike, a bold claim but one that is likely to hold some water. In effect, it is a completely modern take on the traditional cafe racer.

No word on US pricing as yet but it will be in show rooms in January 2022.
