The Suzuki Hayabusa got its biggest update last year. However, this update stirred up a bit of controversy, thanks to the drop in power due to the stringent Euro 5 emission norms. Suzuki, though, was adamant that the new bike was still rapid as ever and lived up to its ex- ” Fastest motorcycle in the world” tag.

Wondering how true this is? Well, Bike World recently took the all-new Suzuki Hayabusa to an empty runway to test the new Busa’s true speed, which also answers whether it has indeed slowed down.

2022 Suzuki Hayabusa Acceleration Test

Once on the runway, the host barely does any talking and gets right into doing his job, i.e. gunning the Hayabusa down the runway.

Interestingly, the rider discards all electronics (new for 2022) altogether and sticks to launching the bike the old way by feathering the clutch. This makes sense too, considering traction control, wheelie control, and launch control, all make the bike slower by cutting power if the bike behaves even slightly abnormally.

I’ve personally watched this video (linked below) four or five times already just because it’s purely amazing to see the analog dials displaying illegal speeds in seconds.

Anyway, coming to the main bit, here are the acceleration times of the new Suzuki Hayabusa:

Acceleration

Time taken

0-60mph

2.8 seconds

0-100mph

5.06 seconds

0-150mph

10.91 seconds

Fastest quarter-mile time

10.1 seconds

What Did We Learn?

As you can see, the new Suzuki Hayabusa, though it makes less power now, is still blisteringly fast in a straight line and records mind-boggling accelerations times. A lot of the credit for this goes to the several engine updates done by the Japanese giant to make the ‘Busa more punchy in lower RPMs, thus backing Suzuki's claims.

Oh, and before you question the authenticity, all these are V-Box verified and not speedo-indicated speeds.
