The Livewire electric brand is about to expand its model line-up as the eagerly anticipated Del Mar makes its public debut on the 10th of May. This will be the first new model since Livewire was separated from parent company Harley Davidson in 2021 and will be sold alongside the existing Livewire One.

Livewire Del Mar World Premiere Set For May 10th

The Del Mar will have flat track-inspired styling and is expected to be significantly less expensive than the One. The teaser video accompanying the announcement does its best to show as little as possible of the new model but styling predictions have been circulating for some months now, although with no indication of how accurate they are.

The Del Mar will be built around the new Arrow modular platform, which should offer improved range, performance and charging times. The Del Mar has been dubbed the S2, with smaller S3 and S4 models to be developed in partnership with the Taiwanese Kymco brand.

Despite all the noise made by H-D around the Livewire, in 2021, only 371 units were sold globally, which is surprising. Harley obviously has high hopes for the brand and it will be interesting to see how the Del Mar affects sales.

Harley was early to the electric party and clearly hopes this will give Livewire the edge as we inch towards full electrification in ten to fifteen years. With a sales prediction of 100,000 units within five years, Livewire had better get its skates on.
