James Steward will aproach Unadilla no differently than any other race in spite of the fact that his biggest rival will not be on the line.

AMA heads to Unadilla-without Carmichael.

The first half of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF comes to a close with round six of the series at Unadilla on July 14-15-without reigning champion Ricky Carmichael.

Instead, the event will see James Steward trying to overcome the spate of luck he’s suffered at the tough New Berlin circuit over the last couple of seasons. In 2005 the Kawasaki star had a collision with Carmichael as the two battled for the lead. Last year, Steward suffered a high-speed accident during morning practice and missed the race altogether.

This year Steward is the overwhelming pre-race favorite to win his first national of the season since series leader Carmichael, unbeaten the first five rounds, will not race at Unadilla.
