The entry-level sportbike segment is hotter than ever and has immense potential throughout the world. While most manufacturers such as Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, and Honda have already exploited this space, BMW has NEVER introduced a fully faired beginner's motorcycle. Luckily, this is about to change as the Bavarian giant has teased its first entry-level sportbike in India, slated to launch on July 15, 2022.

BMW Teases 310 RR Entry-level Sportbike

The upcoming BMW sportbike will be the smallest “RR”-badged motorcycle in BMW’s portfolio, and it will have a 313cc, single-cylinder engine borrowed from the company’s entry-level streetfighter, the G 310 R.}

But that’s not all. According to the teaser posted by BMW Motorrad, the upcoming 310 RR looks heavily based on the TVS Apache RR 310, a product of the TVS-BMW joint venture. Before you raise doubts, let us tell you this move makes a lot of sense. Why? Well, not only will this save help cut down manufacturing costs (TVS already has a huge plant in India), but it will also help prevent R&D costs.

Plus, the TVS Apache RR 310 is actually one of the most feature-packed bikes in the segment, boasting a TFT instrument console, riding modes, smartphone connectivity, slipper clutch, and much more. Only the KTM RC 390 comes close to beating it, while the Yamaha R3 and the recently updated Kawasaki Ninja 400 are nowhere near as well-equipped. }

There’s also a chance that the BMW 310 RR won’t be an exact carbon copy of the Apache RR 310. After all, if BMW truly realizes the potential of this segment, it would try to throw in some Bavarian flavor to the design, so the bike looks like a mini-S1000RR.

Judging from all this, the BMW 310 RR already seems like an epic proposition in the sub-400cc sportbike segment and could very well be a hit throughout the world. Speaking of which, BMW will probably launch the motorcycle in European as well as American markets soon after its Indian debut. Once here, expect the bike to retail at around $5,500.
