Making the already potent bike lighter and more comfortable

The new race-tastic S 1000 RR defines engineering limits known to current technology. Launched back in 2019, this current sports machine comes with a spruced-up inline-four plant, a more track-focused chassis architecture, wind-tunnel tested bodywork, and modern equipment lists like LEDs’ and IMU-based electronics. All of which makes this Beemer take on the competition with mighty force.

In its 10th year of production, the folks in Germany decided to equip this machine with the “M Performance Parts,” giving it an even higher level of riding dynamics and adjustments. Similar to the offer available for BMW M automobiles, these specialized functional components come with precision developed alongside the brand’s extensive racing experience.

Although late to the party, the Germans finally upped the ante of their liter-class superbike, the S 1000RR, updating it with a few cues from the brand’s flagship monster motorcycle, the HP4 Race. For 2020, BMW went on to trick out this superbike with a host of lightweight M carbon fiber parts, including a carbon fiber airbox cover, chain guard, front and rear fender, side panels, tank shell, and sprocket cover.

On the ergonomics side, this M package will let the rider choose between three different seat variants - M sports seat, M seat high, M seat low. Then there are the M footrests for both the rider and the passenger shooting towards a range of adjustments. With this M package, the rider will now also get an adjustable and folding M handbrake lever apart from the already stock adjustable clutch lever, which also receives the M clutch upgrade.

The M remote adjuster for the front brake is so unique for the way it adjusts the lever travel while riding from the left-hand end of the handlebars. Both the levers can opt with lever protectors, and an M fork clamp for stub handlebar will make it possible for the rider to have individual ergonomic adjustments.

Borrowed from the HP4 RACE are the carbon-fiber wheels set options that optimize acceleration, deceleration, handling as well as suspension and damping response. These lightweight rims reduce 7.7 lbs of unsprung and rotational masses, improving handling characteristics and performance of the potent machine. The package also provides M forged wheels and M axle protectors.

Reducing further 4.5 lbs off is the M chain tensione and the M lightweight battery. The new range for the S 1000 RR is rounded off by the mounting stand adapter set and the M cover kit.

We have no word on the pricing yet. Of course, you can pick your S 1000 RR for a starting price tag of $16,995. Expect the M package to cost you around $ 8K. That is exactly how the Yamaha R1 compares to the R1M.
