Produced between 1988 and 1993, it was BMW's first attempt at a sports bike to attract a younger audience
Radical Design
Because of an agreement to limit bikes to 100bhp in Germany, BMW resorted to aerodynamics for speed. Unfortunately, the bodywork also trapped heat from the engine
Toned Down
Later models had more restrained colours. The bike lost a lot of its impact.
BMW K100
An answer to the ageing boxer-twin, the lay-down four cylinder mounted longitudinally was certainly a departure. but the K100 was more touring than sports, hence the K1's existence
Futuristic
The K1 was nothing if not ahead of its time. The only problem is, it was too far ahead, never mind being too slow and heavy.
