Majorly cosmetic updates with a few models receiving technical ones

The race to the top is getting more fearsome every passing day, and the manufacturers are pulling out every little trick they have up their sleeves to make their product stand out from the rest.

BMW Motorrad is at the forefront of imagination, innovation, and technology and proof of that is their list of the finest motorcycles that set benchmarks for every other maker to chase it. Keeping the race alive, the German manufacturer has released a host of updates to its 2019 lineup, including its scooters, six-cylinder tourers, R NineT retro models, and the new adventure machines.

These updates we are talking about do not alter powertrain issues or increase any significant mechanical improvement, but most are cosmetic updates with a several of these models getting dynamic brake lights set up that modulates the rear brake lights with series of flashes to warn motorists more efficiently.

Along with this, there is a new “comfort turn indicators” as a standard option for most BMW Motorrad models from model year 2019 onwards (exceptions: C 650 Sport, C 650 GT, G 310 GS, G 310 R, F 800 R, F 800 GT, S 1000 RR and S 1000 R). These indicators now operate depending on the road speed and various reset conditions before they deactivate.

The 2019 BMW G 310 R gets a brand new striking Racing red paint scheme along with a new Style HP Motorsport finish that comes in Pearl white metallic with "HP" lettering. The Strato blue metallic option though will be unavailable.

The C series of scooters get new paint schemes too with the 400 X getting Black storm metallic. The 650 Sport the New Style paint job with Lightwhite / Racing blue metallic / Racing red with "HP" lettering. The 650 also gets a heated Pro seat as standard now. All 650 drivetrains swap its silver color to a black finish.

The C 650 GT gets the BMW Motorrad Spezial finish available on request with Option 719 brown seat and Sparkling Storm Metallic. The more sophisticated C evolution electric scooter gets Mineral grey metallic / Black in conjunction with black tunnel trim, while the iconic electric green with silver will be discontinued.

Coming to the liter class superbikes, the S 1000 R gets a new Black storm metallic paint along with the new style HP Motorsport paint finish with "HP" lettering and rim lining. The S 1000 XR receives a Triple Black paint job with black handlebars. The top of the line S 1000 RR trumps with a new long-lasting lithium-ion battery as an optional kit which is 4.4 lbs lighter than the regular cell.

The K 1600 tourers get a few more than just cosmetic updates. Hill Start Control Pro comes in as standard which activates the brakes on slopes automatically after one second of standstill. New paint finishes include Black storm metallic / Glacier silver metallic, black drivetrain, windshield Sport version, golden brake calipers at front and rider/passenger seat with seams in a contrasting color.

Some models also get a reduction of standard seat height by 30 mm with the high seat available as an optional. The top of the range Grand America tops the list with an additional speaker with amplifier and a controllable fader function. New imperial blue metallic paintjob comes across the series.

BMW’s retro roasters receive the Dynamic Brake Light function along with new BMW Motorrad Spezial color options. The Scrambler and the Urban GS gets an ex-works cross-spoke wheel available as optional equipment. The Racer additionally gets the "Racer" lettering.

ADV F 750/850 GS machines only find the Dynamic brake light as standard and are the only one in the 2019 update list without a change in the color palette.

On the digital front, the BMW Motorrad Connectivity app gets further updates enhancing the usability. TomTom creeps in to make navigation optimized with a new “winding route” option.
