Custom BMW R NineT From Amsterdam Is A Match Made In Heaven For Your Favorite JDM Cars

In the words of the bikemaker, this is how motorcycle customization will look like in 2084

The Bike Shed motorcycle show is a sacred place for custom bikemakers to flaunt their skills via epic builds. So, for this year’s show, Amsterdam-based Ironwood Motorcycles wanted to create something stunning, and boy, did they live up to it!

Once a BMW R NineT, this custom motorcycle looks from a different world altogether and backs this up with some exceptional customizations, which we’ll be diving into.

Instead of taking the usual scrambler or tracker inspiration seen on R NineT builds, Ironwood Motorcycles took the not-so-common futuristic design approach. With the idea clear, the folks at Ironwood stripped off the stock bodywork, shaped the bodywork in clay, and proceeded to 3D-print the parts.

The final result, as you can see, is nothing short of stunning with a monocoque-style body that looks like a single piece, but actually has two thermoplastic pieces. The front half of the bodywork packs the new sleek fascia, a custom fuel tank made from aluminum, and most importantly, a unique airbox arrangement with a hollow opening.

Wondering where the speedometer is? Well, there’s a sly LCD unit positioned on the front cowl.

Meanwhile, the razor-sharp tail section houses the custom honeycomb-patterned seat and LED tail lights. In the words of the shop owner, this design is neo-futuristic and shows the future of motorcycle customization from 2084.

Coming to the mechanicals, the custom bike shop has up-specced the front suspension with carbon fiber fork tubes and cartridge internals, while the monoshock is an all-new unit from TFX. Likewise, the stock wheels have made way for 17-inch carbon wheels wrapped in ultra-sticky Pirelli Diablo slicks.

The 1170cc, Boxer engine, meanwhile, remains relatively stock, with the only upgrades being the custom covers and the handmade under-seat stainless steel exhaust system. The latter should result in a slight bump in performance, so the bikemaker also threw in upgraded Beringer brakes at both ends.

Finally, topping everything is a ghostly silver paint job with sprinkles of a glittery purple shade on the chassis, levers, brake calipers, and monoshock, which gives the bike a proper JDM-kinda vibe.

Can You Buy It?

Good news: Yes, you can!

Bad news: You’ll have to wait to get your hands on the bike as it’s currently heading to Berlin for BMW’s Pure & Crafted festival. Till then, we suggest you get in touch with Ironwood Customs and discuss money matters.
