The Customizer, found in the Accessories section of the Harley-Davidson Web site, will now feature Softail models too. Currently, the Customizer features Sportster, Dyna, and VRSC models only, but H-D plans to eventually include all model families.

The Customizer allows users to build their dream bike online by selecting a model and then customizing it by adding accessories and changing paint colors. This allows users to see different accessory combinations on their chosen bike so they can decide which customization direction they want to go. The tool will also let users know of accessory conflicts, if any additional installation hardware is required, and suggests cross-sell products. There is also a Workbook function that allows users to save accessories they like in order to reference them at a later time. It creates a running list of accessories and calculates the MSRP of the accessories. Users can also save the bike, print it, or e-mail it to friends, family and dealers.

Customers in the dealerships also gain from this tool since dealers can use the Customizer to help accessorize a customer’s bike and show all of the accessory options available. This allows customers to visualize the accessories on their bike so that they are confident in their final purchase decision.
