The Yamaha XSR700 is easily one of the best motorcycles in the 650-700cc neo-retro segment, and a lot of the credit goes to its charming design. But what if we told you the motorcycle could get even sexier? Don’t believe us? Then, we suggest you read on and check out Velocity-moto’s new bespoke body kit for the XSR700 inspired by the iconic RD350.

Yamaha XSR700 Body Kit By Velocity-moto

The idea of the XSR700 body kit came after the success of the XSR900 body kit already sold by the company. People all around the world loved the kits and bought several pieces which ultimately inspired the Velocity-moto to build a similar one for the more accessible XSR700. Mind the word ‘similar’ here because the XSR700 body kit is a bit different and takes inspiration from the RD350 YPVS, unlike the XSR900’s RD350LC-inspired body kit.

Now that you know the history, let’s dive deeper. The XSR700 body kit comprises an array of slap-on parts which give it epic attention to detail. Starting up top, you get a chunky nose cone complete with a swooped-back tinted visor and a headlight bracket.

The real deal, though, is outback where the motorcycle goes back 20 years, courtesy of the RD350-inspired flat seat (foam and cover included) along with the chunky under-seat side panels. Not to forget, you also get a retro tail lamp and plate holder.

A signature highlight of the RD350 YPVS was its sporty belly pan and we’re happy to report Velocity-moto has recreated it gracefully too. The belly pan, covering the twin pipes, acts as the final piece of the puzzle and brings everything together. Besides the body, the kit also includes all mounts, rubbers, and screws, making this a DIY job.

What’s The Price?

Velocity-moto has priced the RD350 YVPS body kit at 1,200 Euros ($1,241) and it comes in an all-black coat for this price. The liveries you see here add another 1,200 Euros and take nearly four weeks to make.

At a total of over $2,400, the body kit is undeniably pricey and this is without any freight charges or taxes in the picture. However, as far as we know, there isn’t any other body kit out there that offers such attention to detail which makes the purchase somewhat valid if you truly dig old-school motorcycles. That’s only our opinion, though, so feel free to pen down your thoughts in the comments.
