The Airwaves Ducati team kicked up a gear and leave Oulton Park first and second in the championship after Shane Byrne recorded a double race win and Leon Camier achieved two 3rd positions in today’s races.

In a restarted wet race one both Airwaves Ducati riders got a good start, maintaining consistent pace to find themselves in 2nd and 4th position respectively by lap 8. Shane took the lead on lap 11 with Leon Camier moving into the final podium spot. Shane held off a brief challenge to his lead by Leon Haslam, to take his second win of the season. Leon Camier held 3rd place for his first podium of the season.

Race two was equally action packed with Shane missing his breaking point into the chicane on lap two resulting in him rejoining the race in 13th place. He then recorded some of the fastest laps of the weekend to find himself in 4th by lap 10. A number of incidents then occurred ahead of both Airwaves Ducati riders resulting in Shane taking the lead and Leon moving up to 4th. Then, following a crash by the rider in second place, the race was red flagged and declared as a result with Shane in 1st position and Leon in 3rd.

Leon was clearly pleased to achieve two podium finishes; “It has been a great weekend for me and I am really pleased to be leaving here second in the championship. It is never particularly nice to achieve results in the manner that I did today but points are points and I am pleased that I head to Brands Hatch in this position. For the Airwaves Ducati team to come away from Oulton Park first and second in the championship is great; hopefully I can continue to perform like this at my home circuit next weekend.”

Following his fantastic double win Shane Byrne commented; “I am delighted for everyone in the Airwaves Ducati team; they have all worked so hard this weekend and given me a fantastic bike in both the wet and the dry so this is mostly down to them, I just finished the job up! I really enjoyed today and to achieve a double win and go to Brands Hatch as the championship leader is fantastic. I am going to go home and have a few days rest before getting to Brands Hatch and trying to build on this and get a few more wins if possible.”

The Airwaves Ducati team return to the track next weekend when they visit Brands Hatch for the re-run of round one which was snowed off a month ago.
