Drag Race: Suzuki Hayabusa & Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Go All Guns Blazing Against Each Other
Spoiler alert: Evenly matched on power, both bikes are separated by JUST 0.07-seconds!by Punya Sharma, on
If you’re a regular visitor here (thank you!), you probably know that we love bringing you drag races that feature the iconic Suzuki Hayabusa, and this right here is another example.
The first contender here is a second-gen Suzuki Hayabusa. With its 1340cc, inline-four mill, the gen-II ‘Busa puts out 197 horsepower and 102 pound-feet while weighing in at 582 pounds.
The Busa’s opponent in this race is a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. This one has a smaller 998cc, inline-four engine but manages to churn out 197 horsepower, the same as the Hayabusa. However, it does make less torque at 83 pound-feet but again, counters it with its substantially less weight of 454 pounds.
Also, both bikes featured here are properly souped-up with stretched swingarms, shortened forks, and aftermarket exhaust systems.
Suzuki Hayabusa vs Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Drag Race
With considerably less weight and equal power, you’d expect the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R to jump off the line. But it’s actually the torquey ‘Busa that gets off well and establishes a quick lead over the ZX-10R.
Once on the move, though, the Ninja ZX-10R’s epic power-to-weight ratio comes into play and it starts reeling in the Hayabusa, eventually getting the Hayabusa at the line by JUST 0.07-seconds! Yes, by merely 0.07-seconds!
However, it’s worth noting that the Ninja ZX-10R was 9mph faster than the Hayabusa at the line, meaning if the rider had a slightly better reaction time, else the ZX-10R would’ve won by a bigger margin.
Anyway, here are the final quarter-mile times:
|Bike||Quarter-mile Time||Quarter-mile Speed|
|Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R||9.41s||154mph|
All in all, this was yet another staggering drag race with two skilled riders on rapid machines, both of which were quite equally matched.
Which one of these would you pick? Let us know below.
