The Hashtag will only be sold online

Ducati has been making Scramblers which could have been abused on roads that don’t exist, but it pleased the urban way and the masses rather and hence they became glorified street bikes. They became the street iterations of the South-West California and Mexico’s Baja scenes in the ’60s and ’70s.

If you think that Ducati made the Scramblers for entertaining the youth, you are absolutely right. But if you believe the Italians cannot entice them more than this, oh boy you are so wrong. Planned out by the millennial interns at the Ducati offices, the firm is launching a brand new Scrambler model adding to the already strong line-up of six models.

And it’s aptly called the Scrambler Hashtag. Yes, the #. What is even more brain tickling is the fact that Ducati is going to sell these bikes exclusively through a screen rather than on a showroom floor.

Scramblers were those which were fitted with engines displacing upwards of 500cc and stripped off anything that is nonsensical to run on roads or no roads. Featured on these were off-road tires, wheels, and spokes and were given modified suspension systems and engine skid plates; a trademark indispensable in shielding the bike from rocks, stones, and the unforgiving desert terrain.

But I guess the millennials don’t give a damn about this whole entourage and emotions that come with buying a Scrambler today. It has become more of a tool to provide you with immense quotients of fun. Answering to such mindsets, the Scrambler Hashtag will be the most creative, youthful, inventive and free-spirited machine from the “Land of Joy”.

It is really a commendable job done by Ducati to have managed to spin the same engine (L-Twin, Desmodromic 803cc) and create that many Scramblers each having their own character. Be it the Classic, Icon, Full Throttle, Desert Sled, Café Racer and the Mach 2.0. Then came the 1100 with the 1079cc to become the most powerful Scrambler.

Now, the Scrambler Hashtag, to maintain its aura, will probably get a smaller engine than the 803cc running on the rest. Maybe the 399cc that runs on the Scrambler Sixty2 (which was on sale in the USA until last year).
