Ducati’s->ke622 got a lot of reasons to smile these days as the company has just posted record-breaking sales in the first half of 2015. While it’s not completely a shock to most of us, Ducati is still proud to point out that it has 22% more motorcycles in the first half of 2015 compared to the previous time frame in 2014.

All in all, the company said that it had sold 32,600 bikes in the first six months of the year, boosted by record sales in April 2015. For a little more perspective, Ducati sold 45,100 motorcycles in all of 2014. At this rate, the company could reach 65,200 bikes sold by the end of the year. That's an incredible boost to its sales volume.

Oh, and speaking of boosting sales, the Ducati Scrambler->ke4393 has also turned into a huge boon for Borno Panigale. So far, Ducati has sold more than 9,000 Scramblers all over the world in the first half of 2015. Do the math and that roughly equates to about 28% of the total sales number in the span.

That’s an impressive haul for a motorcycle that has yet to celebrate its first birthday. But that’s what happens when you build an impressive piece of machinery that has turned into one of the most popular bikes in the world. Ducati even experienced sales growth in all of its markets in the world, a testament to the popularity of the Scrambler and more importantly, a growing acceptance and love for Ducatis and motorcycles in general.

The Scrambler may be the best-selling Ducati bike in the first half of 2015. But that’s not to say that other Ducati motorcycles didn’t pull their own weight to contribute to the company’s record-setting first half sales.

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 accounted for 4,700 sold units while the Monster 821->ke1905 contributed 3,700 units. The Panigale->ke4026 also came in at over 3,000 units in sales.

Why it matters

Ducati should be proud itself, it really should. It’s got plenty of reasons to be excited, not the least of which is the emerging success of the Ducati Scrambler, which has spearheaded the company’s incredible sales volume.

It’s also important for me to mention that the US remains the company’s biggest national market. It takes a lot for an Italian motorcycle company to have such a presence in America, especially when you consider how much competition it has here. I’m not just talking about American motorcycle brands, but fellow European competitors and a whole lot of Japanese bikes, too.

But through all that, Ducati still posted a 10 percent sales growth in the first half of the 2015, amounting to It pales in comparison to the 51% growth the company had year on year in its home market of Italy, but it’s still impressive whichever way you want to slice it. The company also saw its sales increase in Spain by 38%, the UK by 36%, Germany by 24%, and France by 25%.

Oh, Ducati also managed to sell over 500 motorcycles in Japan. That’s another record in that market.

With so much sales success happening in the first half of 2015, it’s even more important for Ducati to continue this pace or hopefully exceed it as the second half of the year begins. It’s a tall order to say the least, but there’s reason to be optimistic about Ducati’s chances, thanks in large part to the company hitting a grand slam with the Ducati Scrambler.
