Ducati->ke622 North America has a small, but serious, problem on its hands. Up to 568 units from the 2016-17 Multistrada->ke1936 1200 Enduro line may have a defective shock absorber. That's a big problem since the bike has but one shock to buoy the ass end, and it really needs that equipment to not fall off the bike. Maybe “falling off” is a bit of an overstatement, so read on for the official dope.

What's Gone Wrong?

Apparently, the material that forms the mounting boss at the standing end of the stem can be prone to breakage, which can cause the shock to disconnect from the swingarm. Needless to say that's bad, m'kay, especially if you are under way when it happens. According to the factory, this could affect the motorcycle's handling and increase the risk of a crash. No kidding, guys!

Ducati plans to launch the repair campaign on May 22nd, and owners of the affected units can expect to hear from the factory soon. If you think you might be affected you can collect your VIN and give Ducati customer service a shout at 1-800-231-6696, reference recall No. SRV-RCL-17-002. Concerned owners may also contact NHTSA directly at 1-888-327-4236 or visit safercar.gov for more information.
