Following the success of the 2020 Diavel 1260 “Lamborghini” variant developed in partnership with the actual car builder in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Ducati rolls into MY2022 with a new “Black and Steel” livery package for its maxi-naked, Diavel 1260 S platform.

The new Black and Steel design

For the new Black and Steel package, the design team drew inspiration from the Diavel “Materico” that first saw light of day at the 2019 “Beautiful Boldness/Visionary Design” show during the Milan Design Week, trotted out later at the Motorcycle Art & Design exhibition (MOARD). Asymmetrical graphics characterize the look with Glossy Gray and Matte Black as the main paint on the palette, and touches of yellow on the Trellis frame, subframe underside, seat badge, belly pan, and tank trim that are actually quite striking in contrast to the monochromatic coverage that dominates the rest of the bike. Dual vertical taillights ride recessed into the yellow area under the tail to lend it an exotic air that pairs well with the overarching design. A Black & Dark Stealth package is also available with Ducati Red on the frame and blackout wheels for a distinctly different look.

Its asymmetrical graphics, the contrast between matte black, gray and touches of yellow have been designed to enhance the power, design and sportiness of this bike.}.}”

Powered by the Testastretta DVT engine

As for the mechanicals, the Diavel 1260 S platform carries a 1,262 cc, 155-horsepower, Testastretta DVT engine that boasts a flat and fat torque curve and has the juice to launch itself out of the hole with plenty of roll-on higher up in the range. It isn't all about the top end performance either. The mill grinds out tractable power lower in the range for good road manners on public roads. The power is put to the pavement via a characteristically chunky, 240 mm rear hoop that contributes to deep lean-angle capabilities.

Black and Steel availability

There was some question as to whether this model would make it over to our side of the world, but in the end, the factory has wisely decided in favor of including the U.S. market in its business model. As it turns out, we can expect the Black and Steel to hit showroom floors come September of this year.

Pricing is also available for the entirety of North America with an MSRP of $24,395 in the U.S., $28,195 in Canada and 518,600 Pesos in Mexico.
