Despite being only a year old, Ducati has introduced tech updates, concentrating on semi-automatic suspension-lowering and a new colour

The Multistrada might have been a departure for Ducati but it has consistently been one of its most successful models and 2021 was no different as the new Multistrada V4 line-up was the most popular line in the company’s catalogue.

Despite being only a year old, Ducati is introducing some updates and a new colour for 2022, the updates being mainly centred around new technology.

New Luggage
New panniers and top box with waterproof liners offer improved capacity

On the official website, Ducati lists a number of “electronic updates”, including a “Minimum Preload System”, available on the 2022 Multistrada V4 S. This updates the Skyhook electronic suspension system to semi-automatically lower the bike at low speeds. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that this is in direct response to the Harley Davidson Pan America’s suspension lowering system.

The good news is that the tech update will be available for free to existing owners of the 2021 Multi V4 as well as being standard fitment to brand new 2022 Multis. Ducati will contact owners via email or through the MyDucati app when the updates become available for their particular model.

Technically, it is an adventure bike but....
...it is much more at home on the blacktop. 170bhp V4 engine gives extreme performance and the bike is the best-selling Ducati model

Ducati has also announced that a suspension lowering kit is now available. This has nothing to do with the electronic suspension system, but is rather a kit comprising shorter fork and shock springs and a shorter side stand to compensate. This kit lowers the seat height by 20mm.

Last but not least is a new set of aluminium luggage - panniers and top box - with 76-litres and 41 litres of storage respectively. They come with waterproof inner liners that will also make loading and unloading easier.

Free Updates for All V4 S models
Tech updates will be made available for free to all V4S owners from 2021 to date.

The Multistrada V4 is now available in Iceberg White in addition to the existing red and grey colour schemes.
