In today’s dose of your drag race fix, we’ve brought you an EV vs ICE motorcycle showdown, where an Energica Ego electric motorcycle, one of the fastest electric bikes out there, attempts to ruffle the feathers of two Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10Rs.

Let’s dive into it.

To tell you a little about the contenders, the Energica Ego is one of the fastest electric bikes out there, pumping out 134hp and 143 lb-ft

The first challenger here is the Energica Ego electric bike, which puts out 100kW (135 horsepower) and a crazy 143 pound-feet, all of which is available instantly. Thanks to this, the Ego claims to reach 62mph in under 3 seconds.

Meanwhile, going against it are two Ninja ZX-10Rs, one of which is a WSBK race bike with over 215 hp and 93 lb-ft on tap

Taking on the Energica Ego are two Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R’s, the twist here is that one of these bikes is a WSBK-spec model laden with carbon fiber bodywork and other performance parts. As a result, the WSBK-spec Ninja makes over 215 horsepower and 93.5 pound-feet, compared to the road-going ZX-10R’s near-200 horsepower and 84 pound-feet.

In the first race, the Energica Ego takes on the race-prepped Ninja and gets a jump on it, thanks to the instant torque

For the first race, the electric motorcycle goes against the WSBK-spec Ninja, which belongs to the Pederchini Racing Team.

As soon as the race begins, the torquey and easier-to-launch Energica Ego jumps off the line to get an early lead over the Ninja. The gas-powered bike struggles to put its power down, thanks to the launch control limiting power.

However, once the Ninja shifts into the second gear, it comes into its own and breezes past the less powerful Energica, crossing the line first.

For round two, the Energica takes on the stock ZX-10R and gets a jump once again. Do you think the stock Ninja will catch up to it? Swipe up to find out.

In the second race, the Energica Ego went up against the road-going Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Once again, the Energica Ego puts all of its power down in a much more efficient way and gets a jump on the stock Ninja. While the Ego did manage to stay ahead for a longer time on this occasion, the ZX-10R eventually passed it in the latter stages to take the win yet again.

What Did We Learn?

Clearly, the Energica Ego is no match for a stock Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, let alone a race-prepped one.

That being said, the Ego is surely a fast electric motorcycle and with its 2022 variant making even more power, it has only gotten faster with time.

Is anyone willing to lend it to us for a quick drag race?
