No matter how exciting modern-day bikes get, there’s just something about their first-ever iterations where it all started from.

Catering to those folks who appreciate such bikes, Iconic Motorbike Auctions has put up a first-gen Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS for sale which truly proves that old is indeed gold.

2006 Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS For Sale

Ducati kickstarted the Multistrada lineup way back in 2003 and, in true Ducati fashion, followed it up with a top-spec S variant in the coming years. The bike here is the same S variant (officially called the Multistrada 1000S DS}) from the year 2006.

One look at this OG Multistrada and it reminds you of….an MV Agusta. Yes, the iconic design that you currently see on the Multistradas, with twin headlights and a sharp beak, actually started out with a single MV Agusta-like headlight and an overall curvy fascia. Heck, we’re pretty sure many people will even confuse this with the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce if you remove all the branding.

The rear, however, is where the Ducati roots become prominent. You see, back in the early 2000s, under-seat exhausts were a signature Ducati trait, and this is also what the first-gen Multistrada came with. A truly exquisite element for an ADV, don't you think?

Coming to its engine, the Multistrada 1000 DS employed a 992cc, Desmodromic engine, essentially based on Ducati’s existing sportbike engines. The output was somewhere around 92 horsepower and 64 pound-feet, all sent to the rear wheel by a six-speed transmission.

In case you’re worried about the engine health, the seller claims the bike runs perfectly fine and was only recently serviced.

Moving on, the engine is housed in Ducati’s then-signature trellis frame, sprung on fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at both ends. The braking, meanwhile, is via Brembos at both ends.

Lastly, the bike comes with all its original paperwork and only has 731-miles on its semi-digital instrument cluster, making it truly a treasured piece.
