Liter class superbikes are a force not to be played around with and that’s why manufacturers load them up with top-of-the-line electronics. However, electronics don’t make the bike idiot-proof.

Demonstrating exactly that, we have YouTuber BadKittyTime who attempted bunny hops on a Suzuki GSX-R1000, which did go to plan a couple of times but ended up in an epic fail of the day video.

How Did It Happen?

The video starts off with the YouTuber casually riding on the canyons, popping wheelies here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary, just another routine weekend ride.

Fast forward eleven minutes and the rider comes across a sort of crest on the side of the road. His buddy, aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1, attempts to jump on the crest and gets a little bit of air time, and this was enough to inspire the YouTuber to do the same. }

The rider gives it a go and succeeds in jumping the Suzuki Gixxer 1000. He continues to do more of them to get more air time. But as they say, too much of a good thing is a bad thing and that’s exactly what happens here.

On his final attempt, the rider carried a little more momentum by giving the bike a little more gas on the crest. This leads to a sort of wheelie over the crest, which basically makes the bike land on the rear wheel, shifting all the weight to the rear.

As a result, the bike tips over (almost 360-degrees) and throws the rider off. Luckily, though, he lands on his bott and narrowly escapes serious injuries.

The pretty Suzuki Gixxer, meanwhile, takes all the damage with its tail, handlebar, engine casing, and fairings, all shattered.}

To sum it up, this goes to show how powerful and fast sportbikes are and how quickly things can go sideways if you give it just a little extra gas at the wrong time. We’re glad the rider got out of this unscathed as it could’ve easily resulted in a horrific accident, had the bike flipped and landed on the rider.

What Did We Learn?

Well, mostly, not to play around, when you've got so much power on tap and always try to keep things under control, at least on public roads. More importantly, though, this also shows how crucial proper riding gear is to prevent injuries.
