Kawasaki is one of only two superbike makers (BMW being the other one) who aren’t part of the MotoGP for now. But not many people know that the Japanese giant did have a stint in MotoGP for a couple of years, only to end up going away for good back in '09.

However, what’s more, intriguing is the fact that even after quitting in 2009, there were still a couple of Kawasaki's on the MotoGP grid till as late as 2014. Now, one of these über-rare bikes has popped up at GP Motor Bikes and you can be its lucky owner.

2014 Kawasaki MotoGP Bike On Sale

As I mentioned above, Kawasaki quit MotoGP in 2009. However, the Avintia Racing Team in collaboration with Akira Racing Corporating was still running Kawasaki engines on their CRT MotoGP machines, piloted by Hector Barbera and Mike DiMeglio.

The example on sale here is one of the two bikes which ran in the 2014 MotoGP world championship and is nothing short of a masterpiece, as you'd expect from a MotoGP bike.

The bike comes wrapped in its original carbon fiber race fairings replete with Avinita Racing Team livery featuring white and green colors. This aside, the real wizardry is all tucked under the bodywork.

Starting with the engine, the bike features a 1000cc, inline-four mill sourced from Kawasaki. Of course, it is laden with several race-friendly components (including a racing ECU) which help it churn over 215 ponies. Not to mention, the bike is also running a full-system race-only SC-Project exhaust system.

Next, comes the suspension. Since this was the CRT MotoGP bike rather than a full-spec factory machine, the bike used fully-adjustable Showa suspension at both ends instead of Öhlins. Now, these are surely not as flashy or flex-worthy as the gleaming Öhlins, but we’re pretty sure they’ll do their job quite well, unless, of course, you can demolish record lap times.

Besides, you also get 16.5-inch Marchesini race wheels wrapped in slick tires and clamped by race-spec Brembo brakes at both ends coupled with carbon-ceramic disc brakes up front.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the whole bike is claimed to weigh just under 150kg (330 pounds).

What’s The Price?

Sadly, there’s no mention of price on the GP Motor Bikes website. However, you can hit them up and get a quote if you’re really interested.

What we do know, though, is that the bike comes with a paddock stand, steel disc brakes, extra fairings, and a crash set (footrests, handlebar, and brake pads). Pretty neat eh?
