Harley Davidson has revealed its 2022 model line-up, but will wait until the end of January to announce CVO and new models

Harley Maps Out 2022 Models

Harley Davidson has released details of its carry-over models for 2022. There's not a lot that's different - just some new wheels, colours and revised tech. The reveal also mentions Sportster Iron 883 and Forty-Eight models, which is a surprise given the existence of the all-new Sportster S, launched last year.

The Pan America adventure bike gets a new TFT display to enhance visibility and the Hill Hold technology will now hold the bike on an incline for anything up to 5 minutes. The 1250 Special models get a new colour scheme - Fastback Blue/White Sand.

Sportster S models now come in two new colours: White Sand Pearl and Mineral Green Metallic.

Softail and EVO-engined models get new colours and altered trim. Heritage Classic 114 models, named Cycle World’s Best Cruiser for 2021, now have the option of chrome trim in addition to the previous blacked-out edition. Softail Standard and Street Bob models come with new Annihilator cast wheels. The Fat Boy’s badge has been revised to add a single trailing wing to the star logo. The Fat Bob’s gas tank features a “waterslide” fuel tank graphic, matching the oval shape of the tank. Iron 883 and Forty-Eight models see no major updates and surely they will disappear from the line-up soon? The old air-cooled engine won't be emission regulation compliant for much longer in many countries of the world.

The Grand American touring bikes get new paint colour options. Harley's Reflex Defensive Rider System has been renamed Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements and includes electronically linked brakes, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, Drag Torque Slip Control, Vehicle Hill Hold, and tire pressure monitoring.

For news of new models and the CVO line-up, you will have to wait until the 26th January when there will be a live, online reveal. You can register to watch at h-d.com/22

We've not been able to say it very often in the past, but the future of Harley Davidson heading into a new year is looking very stable indeed. Long may it continue.
