Hero Electric entered the electric world after 12 years of extensive research in the EV segment and currently provides eco-friendly and cost-effective mode of personalized transportation to the masses. The company is a multi-product and a multi-location enterprise with interests in Electric Vehicles, Bicycles and Healthcare. With the newfound interest in electric powertrains, Hero Electric has made strides in this direction and are betting big on the technology.

It has been launching electric two-wheelers for some time now and has sold to over 100,000 customers. They, however, were not market spec vehicles like the Tork T6X or Ather S340 available in the country and were very underpowered. Now, they have tied up with the German Technology giant, Bosch, to get things around for them.

HERO Electric recently started coming out with lithium-ion powered EV's with the NYX e5 being the latest of their products. It recently launched another e-scooter Flash and are in firing order to launch a series of new vehicles to take a bite at the cake enjoyed by the petrol-powered counterparts.

They have partnered with the German tech giant Bosch to offer better technology and higher performance capabilities in its product lineup, and to source powertrains for its range of e-scooters. Both will work in tandem to bring out market-leading versions of e-scooters having higher spec components, better battery power, and more performance. They will run on lithium-ion battery packs and replace the age-old lead acid battery.

Hero Electric spokesperson, Sohinder Gill said “The company has just introduced Bosch as a powertrain partner and will graduate to Bosch more and more as a serious partner both internationally and domestically,”

The scooters will be powered by electric powertrains procured by Bosch and will run at maximum speeds of up to 40 mph to give a stiff competition to the petrol variants. They will include smart technologies like having a top of the line Battery Management System, GPS system, smartphone integration, remote diagnostic capability and cloud connectivity amongst others.

The company wants to at the least offer two new products every year starting from 2018 and have developed a strategy to double their sales from 24,000 units to 45,000 units. As the motorcycle also falls under the central government’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) initiative and National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), it is eligible for subsidies and exemptions.

Bosch already makes motors for e-bikes and hub-center motors for a few other electric scooters in the market. The range from 400w to 1200w motors that come with a Bosch regenerative braking controller and a power boost function.

Countering to the deals that lurk all around the use of combustion fuel and its effects on the environment, a greater deal of thought is gone into using alternative sources to power our vehicles and one such attempt is made by Hero Electric that is striving for a greater cause. There has never been a better time to introduce zero-emission vehicles that cater to a larger mass of bikers and commuters alike. There hasn’t been a lot of success stories on this front, but things have now started to change for good.
