Honda’s hydraulic-drive DN-01 - shown as a concept in 2005 - will go into production starting 2007. It will go on sale in Japan early 2007 and in Europe by the end of 2007.

It uses a V-twin engine developed from the Deauville’s 65bhp, 680cc unit. Instead of conventional gears, the DN-01’s engine is connected to a hydraulic pump, which sends hydraulic fluid to a turbine driving the rear wheel via a shaft.

I don’t see anything about US sales?? I’ve been searching for news on this bike since its intro, as it fits my needs perfectly. I just want some comfortable California sunshine cruising, and don’t want an 800 pound , er hog.

I want the first one that arrives in Britain !!! I’ve waited a long time for a bike like this and can’t wait to get my hands on one .
I love the styling and the fact that it’s so different from anything else on the road .The attention to detail is amazing, but I know there will be bikers out there that say it’s not a proper bike without gears, but I think that’s the way the biking industry will have to go if we are to get more people out of cars and on to two wheels. I’m a female biker ,that belongs to a bike club, and I think more female members would ride themselves insead of being ions if a bike like the DN 01 were available to them. I hold a full licence but most girls I know are pretty scared of the average sports bike and are frightened to have a go , I think the DN 01 would offer them an alternative.
