It's been rumoured for a while but up to now, Honda has been tight-lipped about its new model. Now, we can reveal it is an Africa Twin-based touring bike. But that's about all we know!

Honda Finally Teases new NT1100

Honda isn't the sort of company to say anything about a new model until it is ready to do so. For a couple of months, it has been telling us that something is coming, but not what. Of course, there was speculation but that's all it was: speculation.

Finally, Honda has released a teaser video of what we now know is a brand new NT1100 touring machine, based on the Africa Twin.

The video is the usual arty nonsense, with a string-section soundtrack, lovely scenery and (very) fleeting glimpses of the bike. Honda go as far as telling us that the new bike brings a new era to the touring market, but that's as much as they're willing to give away. The full launch is set to be on the 21st October.

While details are scant, we can tell that it will use the Africa Twin 1100cc power plant with a DCT option. In fact, we can expect the NT1100 to be basically an Africa Twin with road wheels and tyres, more comfort, better wind protection and luggage.

It heads into crowded territory, with almost every manufacturer having a model in the sports/tourer class but expect Honda to have done its homework properly.
