To coincide with the end of the plant holidays, BMW Motorrad starts the model year 2008 with a range of new colours and equipment packages.

The most important piece of news of model year 2008 is the new special equipment packages – in particular the safety package offered for nearly all models which includes ASC (Automatic Stability Control), ABS and RDC (tyre pressure control) as a combined feature. The advantage of these packages is that they offer tried and tested combinations with a clear price benefit.

The BMW R 1200 R can be enhanced with a choice of two special equipment packages – either an on-board computer, heated grips and main stand or a complete package including the above-mentioned features as well as the chrome exhaust system and ESA. Another option: the safety package. An additional new feature is the redesigned and more comfortable seat, which will especially appeal to those who like to travel with a pillion passenger.

For the BMW R 1200 RT there is the “small” package consisting of the heated grips, on-board computer and white direction indicators, while the “large” package includes the chrome exhaust system, seat heating, ESA, cruise control and a second power socket. The safety package is an additional option. This means that BMW motorcycles can once again be fitted more individually and extensively than virtually any other machine – really leaving nothing to be desired.

The BMW R 1200 S can be enhanced with the familiar sporty features (Öhlins chassis, wide tyres) as well as on-board computer and heated grips – not just singly but also as a package. The safety package applies here, too. The paint finish variations titanium silver metallic/magma red non-metallic and white aluminium metallic matt are no longer available.

For all K models – except for the LT – the safety package is also available, with new paint finish combinations for the K 1200 R: smoke grey metallic matt, with either silver or black chassis, frame and engine, and green apple metallic with black chassis, frame and engine. Is there a cooler power naked bike? The BMW K 1200 GT is offered in crystal aventurin silver metallic instead of crystal grey and can be fitted with three packages: package 1 with on-board computer and heated grips, package 2 with seat heating and ESA in addition, and package 3 with the further addition of xenon lights and cruise control. However, the luxury model BMW K 1200 LT is the real sensation: here everything is included as standard with immediate effect - there are no more optional extras.

The BMW F 800 S and ST will be available in future with three different seat heights: 840 mm as standard with an inside leg measurement of 1,850 mm, and a special equipment feature of either a low seat (815 mm height with 1,820 mm inside leg measurement) or a lower seat (760 mm height and 1,700 inside leg measurement) – so this model will be of more interest to smaller motorcyclists too.

With the optional service display, the models R 1200 S, GS and RT and K 1200 S, R and GT provide feedback on an imminent service appointment in the multifunction display, making for even more carefree riding with BMW motorcycles.
