Spy shots show revised Triumph Street Triple 765 undergoing testing, with changes to suspension and bodywork

Is Triumph Getting Ready to Update The Street Triple?

You've got to love spy shots of new models being tested. There are photographers who make a living by hanging around in the middle of nowhere, waiting to catch a glimpse of a new or revised model.

In the UK, Motorcycle News is particularly good at getting the scoop on any new developments and these latest shots show a revised Triumph Street Triple 765 being tested, certainly not in the UK, judging by the sunshine!

At present, the top-spec Street Triple is the RS model, but this latest development looks to set the bar even higher. Most noticeable is the adoption of Öhlins forks up front in place of the Showa units on the current Street. It is likely that these forks will be the fully adjustable NIX items as currently found on the Speed Triple RS.

Elsewhere, the bodywork has changed at the front, with what looks like an aerodynamic profile to the plastic panels that sit alongside the radiator, perhaps to produce downforce either to counter lift at speeds or to pander to the modern obsession with 'wings' on bikes.

The handlebars have been changed from a single bar mounted on the top triple clamp to a pair of raised clip-ons attached to the fork legs. Triumph might have done this to free up space on the top triple clamp, although for what reason is not known.

What we can't know at the moment is whether this new model will be the replacement for the RS or whether it will come into the catalogue as a TFC - Triumph Factory Custom - model, sitting above the RS.

Whichever way Triumph does it, the top-drawer components will certainly add to the cost of the bike but this will be offset by the need to keep the Street Triple at the top of the list of middleweight naked bikes.
