Teaser videos about new models are nothing new. In the past few weeks, we've had multiple videos from Husqvarna and two from Triumph, all of which have at least shown the motorcycle that is being teased, albeit in varying levels of visibility. This latest attempt from Kawasaki is pretty dire and tells us pretty much nothing.

Kawasaki 'Retrovolution' Teaser Video Sucks

While there is no set of rules for how much teaser videos reveal of the subject matter, it is kind of normal to give viewers some idea of what is being teased.

Not according to Kawasaki. Rumours have been rife for a long time now that a new bike was on the way that would be a smaller-engined version of the Z900RS. It is widely expected to be powered by the 650cc parallel twin currently found in the modern-styled Z650.

Thus, it doesn't take a great leap of imagination to surmise that the new bike will be a Z650RS, with styling following that of the Z900RS. So, think teardrop gas tank, round clocks and retro colours.

The title of the teaser video tells us that it will be a retro - or 'modern classic' - bike but that's as far as it goes. All we see are images of two people - a guy and a girl - sitting on bikes at a set of traffic lights. The lights change and.....fade to black!

Given that the rumours have been flying for so long, one might think that Kawasaki would spend its time confirming them, rather than vaguely acknowledging them.

To be honest, it's not even as if the video has got me in a froth of excitement, either. I know I'm a cynical old hack who's seen it all and perhaps there are plenty of people out there who are looking forward to a 650cc modern classic with a Kawasaki badge on it, but it's hardly a flagship model, is it? Just launch the thing and let's get on with life!
