Not that we need any encouragement to get out on our motorcycles and ride, but KTM is again hosting is World Adventure Week in July and everyone is invited, no matter what bike you ride.

KTM World Adventure Week 2022

In my experience, motorcyclists don't need any encouragement to get on their bikes and ride: to work, to the shops, for a weekend, cross-country or around the world, riding is what keeps us alive.

Being a manufacturer who positively feeds off its customer's experiences, KTM wants to encourage us even further to get on our bikes and ride.

The KTM World Adventure Week was born in 2021, at the height of Covid lockdown restrictions. Partnering with the Riser journey-recording app, the idea was to get people out of their homes and riding in a safe, socially distanced manner while still feeling part of a community.

The challenge was to ride more than 1000km (620 miles or thereabouts) in one week. What is more, it didn't matter what brand of bike you rode: everyone was welcome. That open-arms policy resulted in 1.5 million kilometers ridden over 25,000 riding hours. Motorcyclists in 74 countries participated with 735 group rides taking place over the week-long event and 1,005 riders eclipsing the 1,000-km milestone.

KTM’s World Adventure Week will be returning for 2022, where the Austrian brand is challenging the more adventurous riders out there to ride 1,000km or more in one week.

The 2022 event will take place from 4-10 July and the aim is simply to ride! According to the WAW web page, "It’s an invitation to go explore the tracks and trails you’ve always wanted to and is an opportunity to share your favourite place with the rest of the world.

"We will be releasing a series of daily challenges to encourage likeminded adventure riders to get out there and adventure more.

"The most adventurous riders will be rewarded."

Even though the name suggests adventure riding, it doesn't matter what, how or where you ride, as long as you are riding and want to share the experience with the community. Whoever manages 1000km in the week will receive a personalised prize from KTM (and no, it's not a 1290 Super Adventure with your name hand sign-written on the tank. I checked!).

In case you didn't know, the Riser app allows the adventurous riders out there to connect with each other, share their rides, images of their bikes, and the routes they have taken.

To enter, all you have to do is download the Riser app and start riding on the 4th July. Further details of daily and weekly prizes will be posted on KTM's social media pages in the coming weeks.
