Joining Tesla, Livewire and Zero are already showing the way for electric vehicles and now, Land Moto, based in Cleveland, Ohio, is set to boost the country's claim to being the home of electric vehicles.

Land Moto District Is The Latest Electric Bike To Come from America

Land Moto is set to be the latest chapter in the American story of electric motorcycles. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, its new range of electric bikes takes the concept of lightweight two wheeled transport to another level.

The latest model, the District, is “A unique statement from a small, dedicated team showcases our approach to vehicle design, craftsmanship and architecture.”

The District, in standard form, has a 1.8kW/h battery pack giving a range of 30 miles, and it is possible to double the battery capacity to 3.6kW/h or upgrade the batteries to give 5kW/h and up to 80 miles of range. Swappable battery technology is employed.

Four riding modes are present which alter how the power is delivered: E Bike, E Moped, Power Eco, and Power Max.

E Bike is the slowest and most economical mode, giving a top speed of 27mph, suitable for most urban environments. E Moped increases the top speed to 37mph. The Power Eco blends the best of power and range and the Power Max is all about power. A top speed of 65mph is claimed for both.

Potential maximum power output is 12kW and a frankly incredible 278lb.ft of torque, although current regulations allow only a fraction of that to be dialled in to production models. You shouldn't worry, however, as the District weighs in at a featherweight 60kg while having a carrying capacity of 375lb.

Three versions of the District will be available. The Standard will cost $7,800 and has no lights or dashboard, while the Street and Scrambler versions will set you back around $8,200 and will be fully street legal with lights, fenders, dashboard and indicators. The Scrambler gets chunky dirt tyres and the Street road tyres.
