If you were a kid born in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, this is your opportunity to restore that youth. Lego has just approved to make a full-scale model of the Tron light cycle after the model gained 10,000 supporters.

Based on the Disney film, Tron Legacy, we saw Sam Flynn move around the battle scene in a futuristic motorcycle we’ve all loved. Lego Ideas, impressed by the number of people voted for this design made by Devon-based, Brick Bros UK, will produce the Lego model this year.

Lego Ideas give such out-of-the-box folks a platform to showcase their hobbies as a Lego designer. If their designs attract enough traction, the product will finally go into production.

The set made by Brick Bros includes a mini Sam piloting the bike with a Tron suit, helmet and the disc. The set also has a dashboard console with handlebars and detailing on the sides. The light cycle will carry a power steam at the rear, and the whole unit is set up on the Grid base with two connection points.

The whole creation has the Grid effect with black and trans-blue tiles creating the virtual Tron feeling to the build. The Rinzler Tron bike was, in fact, submitted twice to Legos after seeing the huge amount of love and appreciation it received from so many supporters. It got updated with movable wheels, better miniature fit, an illuminated base grid that comes with a trans-orange effect.

Giving it a beautiful glow will, however, be the trans-blue and black combination of the original bike. A "LEGO Review Board" composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. A concept model will be first built to access if it the design meets what it takes to be a LEGO model.

The scrutiny includes multiple checks like the playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Once the model receives a "go/no-go" decision, the project will go into production and eventually be sold in stores. This will take close to 5-6 month in development before it hits the market with the product materials (box, instructions, marketing),

Lego Ideas reads: “We’re very excited to release BrickBros UK's Tron Legacy Light Cycle project as our next LEGO Ideas set! The final design, pricing and release date are still being worked out.”

LEGO had previously built a 603 piece BMW hover-superbike based on the brand’s famous motorcycle, the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure.
