An exceptional performance for the Aprilia flag-bearers and the 2-cylinder SXV at the Barclaycard Superbikers, the supermoto race (reserved for international speed riders) that took place Saturday in Bologna, Italy, at the Motorshow’s Shell Arena.

Between heats and spectacular skids, Alex De Angelis was among the showstoppers of the timed trials with a 32”750 that earned him 2nd place in the grid.  Less opportune was the performance of the rider from San Marino during the race where he finished prudently in 16th place.

The absolute protagonist of the race was Mattia Pasini. Qualifying himself with the 8th best time in the American race (33”467), the rider from Rimini dueled it out with Carlos Checa from the start in an extremely hard-fought race. He closed out in 2nd place after the 14 total laps, less than three-tenths of a second away from the Catalan and a solid two turns ahead of the 3rd place finisher, Andrea Dovizioso.
