I’m neither the collector nor the authority in luxury timepieces so I’m not even going to pretend to understand what it means to own a watch that costs more than a house. But I do appreciate the craftsmanship that comes with these timepieces, especially if it comes from artists like Miki Eleta.

For those who don’t know, Eleta is a famous watchmaker creates some of the most unique watches you’ll ever see. At the recent Baselworld watch convention, Eleta was on hand to present his latest masterpiece that he says are inspired by early internal combustion engines used on the motorcycles of yesteryear. Ok, that’s one way to get me interested.

Elena calls it the Time Burner and it’s probably the only thing simplistic about the watch. Everything else screams unique to the extent that it has a mechanical aluminum pistol that takes the place of a watch’s normal hands. It also has a stainless steel case, an untreated bronze crown, three sapphire crystals, a water resistance rating of 3 ATM, and a 46-hour power reserve working at a frequency of 18,000 v/h.

It’s also incredibly limited as Eleta only built 99 units of the Time Burner with three editions available for public purchase. It’s a choice among silverlight, chrome-rider, or all-black, although let’s face it, each edition is unique in its own right.

So how much does one Time Burner cost? Elena hasn’t announced the price, but don’t be surprised if it fetches more than a pretty penny. One look at it and you can immediately tell that.

Why it matters

I’ve seen some incredible timepieces worn by other people and to be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like Miki Eleta’s Time Burner.

The shape of the watch is unique in it of itself. The extended contraption is largely responsible for that and that’s where you can identify the seconds information on the watch. It also moves in a similar fashion as an internal combustion engine, which is probably the best way to describe how special this watch is.

The design is also clean and classic, well, except for its shape. But it doesn’t carry the same amount of bling as other timepieces. There are no vestiges of jewelry in it, unless you count the sapphire crystals as such.

There will be other watches that are more expensive than Miki Eleta’s Time Burner. But for what it’s worth, it’s going to be difficult to find another watch as unique as this one.

I'm already convinced that this watch is going to be out of my price range. But just because I won't be able to afford it, that doesn't meant other people can't. So if you have the finances and a certain affinity for nice watches that tell a story of their own, Miki Eleta's Time Burner timepiece is definitely the way to go.

Just be quick about it because there's a good chance that all 99 available units will be accounted for in no time.
