Motorcycle of the year: Ducati, Ducati, Ducati!
Monthly, there were more than 35, 000 readers who voted the “Motorcycle of the year 2008” having to choose among 280 models from all twelve categories: Cruiser, Naked, Enduro, Road Enduro, Supermotard, Sport, Sport Touring, Touring, 125cc and three category of scooters.
Like everybody expected, bikes situated in the “sports” category were heavily voted ending up occupying the podium, but this is more than everybody ever dreamed about. For the first time in the history of various voting organized by magazines worldwide, the house of Ducati occupies the entire podium marking a premiere: first place for the 1098, second for the Desmosedici RR and third for the 848.
Yes, there had been times when Ducati met the reader’s sympathy, receiving awards and recognition that have often seen the 1098 or the Desmosedici RR placed on top of the podium, but this is now a proof of the maker’s domination as nobody else so far has had the honor.
To complete the triumph of Ducati, other significant recognitions were won such as a first place for the Hypermotard and a second one for the recently introduced naked, the Monster 696. Being placed on the third place by voters, the Multistrada clearly stands out as an excellent Road Enduro and further talks about Ducati’s brilliance.
Being held yesterday at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, the awards ceremony took place in the presence of management Edisport, publisher of the Motociclismo magazine, Dr. Guidalberto Guidi and Maddalena Corvaglia, model and Ducati Monster rider.
