For today's drag-race feature video special, we have a lady rider on a souped-up 2014 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R trying to take on a dude aboard an equally souped-up 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Now, the result might be what you’d expect, but the quarter-mile times here are nothing short of mind-blowing.

Let’s dive in.

The Competitors

The first competitor in this race is a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. The bike packs a 636cc, inline-four engine that put out a more than respectable 131 horsepower and 52.3 pound-feet. Meanwhile, the bike tips the scale at 428 pounds, making it fairly light.

Going against the 6R is its elder sibling, the Ninja ZX-10R. In 2012, the ZX-10R features a 998cc, inline-four engine pumping out 200 horsepower and 82.6 pound-feet. In addition, the whole package weighs 443 pounds, giving it a great power-to-weight ratio.

Before getting to the race, let us point out that both these bikes are running lowered suspensions, aftermarket exhausts, and probably tweaked engine maps to make the bikes more suitable for drag racing.

2014 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R vs 2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R Drag Race

Judging from the specs, the ball is clearly in the ZX-10R’s court. However, as soon as the lights go out, it’s always the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R that gets off the line quicker, jolting ahead of the ZX-10R.

All the ZX-10R can do then is keep it pinned and let the horsepower advantage come into play. Even though the power advantage does come in, it only does so at the very end, meaning the ZX-6R maintains its lead for a fairly decent time, only losing out at the very end.

Don’t believe us? Well, this is backed up by the quarter-mile times as, on average, the ZX-6R is just 0.2-0.3 seconds behind the ZX-10R, regardless of the substantial 10-12mph speed difference at the line.

Speaking of times, the fastest time recorded by the lady rider aboard her Ninja ZX-6R was a crazy 9.98 seconds, while the Kawasaki ZX-10R rider managed a bonkers 9.68-second quarter-mile in the same run.

To wrap up, it’s safe to say that both these riders are super talented and obviously aboard very fast machines, but the winner, in the end, is surely the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.
