Hot on the heels of the V4SV superbike, comes news of a naked café racer version from recently revitalised British manufacturer Norton.

Norton V4CR naked sports bike to make its debut

The revitalised Norton Motorcycles concern might have only just emerged from the long, dark tunnel it was in financially, but new owners TVS are certainly not hanging around.

First, a brand new factory was built and equipped and opened recently n the English Midlands and now news of new models is already coming out.

Based on the V4SV superbike, the V4CR is a naked café racer and doesn't it look fabulous?

It will be powered by the same 1200cc V4 engine, producing 185bhp, putting it bang in line with he fire-breathing KTM 1290 Super Duke R.

The model will feature carbon fibre fuel tank and body panels, a polished billet swing arm and frame and will be a more compact motorcycle than the fully-faired superbike.

Having already undergone tens of thousands of testing miles on road and track, it is testament to new Norton's 'unrelenting development process.' With TVS paying the bills, expect more new models to come thick and fast.

CEO of Norton, Dr Robert Hentschel, said:

“The prototype VC4R is the next step in Norton’s strategic growth plan on its journey to becoming the world-leader in luxury hand-crafted motorcycles.”

Reading between the lines, this means that TVS intends Norton to be a manufacturer of high-end, luxury motorcycles, with limited production numbers and a price tag to match.

The announcement means that the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC exhibition centre in Birmingham, where the Norton V4CR will makes its public debut, will feature all three iconic British manufacturers - Triumph, BSA and Norton - for the first time in 50 years. If that isn't something to whet the appetite, then I don't know what is.
