PARENTS should first consider safety and the law before giving their children motorcycles for Christmas, New South Wales police say.

Officers have warned that unregistered bikes – particularly trail bikes designed for children, such as the smaller 50cc and 125cc models – ridden on streets and public property without permission will be seized.

Anyone caught may face fines up to $2200 or two years imprisonment.

Police said parents should also be aware some motorcycles are not built to Australian design specifications and cannot be registered for use on Australian roads.

Parents should be responsible for the safety of their kids. They should have registered this motorcycle gifts immediately.

From where I’m at, motorcycles starting from 50 cc are required to be registered and there are of course certain places where it is not allowed like the expressway. The weak engine will not be able to keep up with the fast cars.
