Offer only untill October 2018 and for UK customersby Sagar, on
The UK has been facing a notorious crime of motorcycle thefts. Things in London, however, is in a different level altogether. There were over 14,000 motorcycle thefts reported in London the last year, and 23,430 crimes were committed using motorcycles that were stolen of course.
On an average, 77 bikes worth are stolen per day and to crack this atrocity, London Mayor Sadiq Khan spoke about manufacturers incorporating better anti-theft measures into their products to make it difficult for people just to whisk away bike without authorization. And joining Honda UK in this effort, Piaggio has offered to equip all the new Vespa GTS 300s’ and Piaggio Beverly 300/350s’ with tracking equipment free-of-charge.
Mopeds happen to be the soft targets since they are very easy to get their handlebars unlocked and ignition started effortlessly than a motorcycles. An alarming 620% of scooters were stolen compared to the previous year. The rampant theft rate has prompted rider protests asking for Greater London to install more ground anchor points for riders to chain their bikes.
When Sadiq Khan invited manufacturers to the summit, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW, and Piaggio were present and the first manufacturer to act over is the Japanese Red Winger. It has joined hands with the UK based Datatool to provide free tracking systems on its machines.
Now, the Italian manufacturer, Piaggio, has offered all its new customers of the new Vespa GTS 300s and Piaggio Beverly 300/350s, a free installation of “Tracker” units to curb the menace. “Tracker” is UK’s best tracking provider that makes use of a unique VHF technology to go about its business. It is also the only the only tracking solution operated nationwide by the UK police force.
With a 48 hour return guarantee, TRACKER motorcycle units provide a partial European tracking service throughout the UK, France, Spain, Poland, Italy, Holland and Luxembourg. The Battery Powered units provide long battery life with up to 5 years standby, specially developed to protect unpowered or infrequently used motorcycles.
These devices have a unique tracking software that cannot be affected by signal jammers and come with a motion sensor to detect unauthorized movement. Using VHF technology (Very High Frequency for you) Tracker can find your bike even if it has been hidden in a lock-up, van, shipping container or underground car park, situations where GPS tracking can be rendered ineffective.
Buying it from the market, the Tracker devices will cost you from £249 ($325) to £361 ($470). But Piaggio will install these devices onto the new scooters until the end of October 2018. Unfortunately, this offer has not yet been announces to any other markets apart from the UK.
"Moped crime is reckless, frightening and intimidating and it will not be tolerated on the streets of London. The Mayor views this crime as an extremely serious offense and fully supports the police to crack down on perpetrators." reads the official website of the Mayor of London.
