Popular motorcycle accessory maker Puig has taken the wraps off of their new concept motorcycle, dubbed Diablo.

While the concept takes shape from a Yamaha MT-09 SP, there’s no shortage of game-changing elements here, all aimed at one thing and one thing only – redefining aerodynamics.

Diablo Motorcycle Concept By Puig

At a glance, the Diablo looks nothing like the MT-09 SP and that’s because all of its stock bodywork was stripped out for this build. The Puig team then took it to the drawing board, preparing a sketch of how they wanted things, flexing their knowledge about aero on the way.

This was followed by extensive research and development and the creation of entirely new body parts. Right from the fascia to the very tail end, everything’s been made to keep aerodynamics as efficient as possible, all of which was ensured via wind tunnel testing.

What you get as a result is a mind-blowing, super sharp concept bike with a bevy of aerodynamic parts that include

- An alloy wheel cover

- A redesigned headlight mask

- A tail section with integrated spoilers

- Aero-specific side fairings

The party trick, meanwhile, is the active aero found on the fairings and front windscreen. These are coupled with sensors to determine when these elements should move in order to boost the downforce.

Alongside all the aero, the bike also comes with an aftermarket clip-on handlebar, and custom LED lights at the front and rear. Not to mention, everything’s been painted in red because…well, red means fast!

Apart from all this, there aren’t any changes under the skin. You get the same 890cc, triple-cylinder engine housed in an aluminum chassis, coupled with KYB USD forks and Ohlins shock.

Given how intricate this concept is, there’s little to no chance this would be something for the public, especially when you bring R&D costs in to picture.

But if there’s anyone who we'd expect to roll out active aero components for street bikes, it has to be a big name like Puig. Sure, it might be a while before it happens, but we believe it’s coming. But until then, let’s just enjoy the Diablo.
