Ducati North America is scrambling to correct a potentially dangerous problem concerning its rear-drive sprocket. Apparently, the retaining nut on the affected models may have been insufficiently tightened, which can cause loss of power and control. This problem affects the XDiavel models that were manufactured between July 7th, 2015 and June 22nd, 2016.

The recall campaign begins on November 7th, 2016, and affected bikes will have a new nut and washer installed with the appropriate torque. Ducati is notifying owners, and concerns may be addressed by calling the factory’s customer-service line at 1-800-231-6696, or the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to safercar.gov.
