Stunt rider Günter Schachermayr is a name popular for his brave escapades on his trusty Vespa. Last time around, he made headlines by towing an airplane with the Vespa, and backing it up in style, this time he headed to a railway track to create a new world record.

Günter Schachermayr Makes World Record By Riding Vespa On A Railway Track

The world record was pretty simple - ride a scooter on a railway track for a set amount of time - yet it posed several obstacles. First, unlike tarmac, riding on a railway track requires special wheels, so the rider equipped his Vespa with special aluminum wheels that fit on a railway track. Interestingly, Gunter even slapped a third aluminum wheel on the side to ensure that he stays upright.

The next and much bigger challenge was finding an empty railway track. The attempt required just over 10 minutes and 20 seconds of riding on a railway track and picking a random railway track wasn’t an option. This is because if this attempt caused a delay to any train, it’d incur a hefty €70,000 fine per minute.

Luckily, the world record didn’t specify the type of railway track, so Gunter’s team chose a local reduced-format inactive track built in the 1920s. Once everything was in place, the stuntman achieved the world record by riding his Vespa on a railway track for 10 minutes and 25 seconds.

Post the world record, Gunter posted a snippet of his attempt on YouTube. Check it out below:

Compared to what Gunter has treated us to in the past, this wasn’t nearly as crazy. But, it’s still another world record under Gunter’s name and we’re pretty sure he is already working on his next adventure.

We’d like to point out, though, that Gunter wasn’t wearing a helmet here, and it's not something we promote. So, we urge all our readers to follow the ATGATT (All the gear, all the time) rule. With that out of the way, what do you think the stunt rider will do next? Comment down below!
