Helmets are arguably the most important piece of protective riding gear you can get. And thanks to this, they are also the highest-selling and most popular riding gear amongst riders.

To cash in on this, many helmet companies roll out special colorways for their helmets, which vary from MotoGP editions to full-blown, loud Marvel and DC Comics liveries. And similarly, leading Japanese helmet-maker Shoei has introduced limited-edition liveries for its popular helmets, the RF-1400 and the GT-Air II.

Let’s take a closer look.

Shoei RF-1200

The Shoei RF-1200 is the company’s SNELL and DOT-rated full-face helmet featuring a fiberglass construction. The helmet boasts four intake vents and a large exhaust vent to ensure proper ventilation at all times.

Some of its notable features include:- Emergency Quick Release cheek pads- Quick-drying internal liner- Five-year warranty- Four shell sizes- Pinlock support

Now that you know about the helmet, let’s come to the new color, called Accolade TC-10. This limited edition color wraps the helmet in a light grey finish which is complemented by neon green and light blue graphics. The graphics also comes replete with blue Japanese characters, making this helmet a perfect companion for Japanese bikes like the 2022 Yamaha MT-10. }

Shoei GT-Air II

As the name suggests, the GT-Air II is the Shoei’s sport-touring helmet. Built from fiberglass, the GT-Air II has a multi-density EPS liner and adheres to DOT safety certification.

It gets many touring-friendly features including:

- Intercom-ready design- Pop-down sun visor- Three intake and five exhaust vents- Emergency Quick Release for cheek pads- Micro-ratchet fastener- Three shell sizes- Five-year warranty

Coming to its limited-edition colors, unlike the RF-1200, this one gets three new shades, namely Tesseract TC-1, Tesseract TC-5, and Tesseract TC-10.

The TC-1 and TC-5 feature a matte black base coat, with the former boasting red and grey graphics while the latter gets white and grey graphics.

My personal favorite, though, is the TC-10, which comes wrapped in a glossy white base coat topped off by red and blue graphics, which makes it look quite stand out.

Shoei RF-1200 & GT-Air II Prices & Availability

The limited editions of the Shoei RF-1200 and the GT-Air II retails at $629.99 and $699.99, respectively. Being limited editions, all four colors will only be available in fixed numbers, starting from May 2022. So we’d suggest you get ready for a lil’ game of fastest fingers first and grab one before you miss it.
