Suzuki teasing a special GSX-R 1000 R with Yoshimura ?
Gets carbon-fiber fairing, top-spec exhaust, race-styled screen and lever guardsby Sagar, on
Built by engineers with years of experience and dominations in production-based Superbike, Superstock and Endurance races worldwide, and most importantly the WSBK MotoGP technology, the 6th gen 2017 GSX-R 1000 was the most compact, the most aerodynamic and the best-handling GSX-R 1000 ever.
The folks who made it themselves are upping the ante for 2019 and will be showcasing a new edition of their “King of Sportsbike” at the upcoming EIMA show in Milan. It is going to be a much more brutal version of the already potent GSX-R 1000R and Suzuki Italy has published a couple of pictures on their social media platform giving us a glimpse of this new weapon, probably in conjunction with Yoshimura.
Looking at this embodiment of the pride and passion of the people who made it, we know for sure that they have left no stone unturned to make the GSX-R reclaim its rightful title as the “King of Sportsbike”. Making this beast touch the 200 bhp mark, it had already become the most powerful Suzuki on sale in the states.
But now, chaps at the Japanese factory are introducing a more lethal version of the GSX-R based on their sportier 1000R variant to make it the fastest, most powerful, hardest-accelerating, cleanest-running GSX-R ever produced.
It looks to have an all-carbon fiber fairing/bodywork to shelve massive weights from the mighty GSX-R 1000R. It gets MotoGP styled screen and lever guards, Yoshimura exhaust kit and more. Using hashtags like #staytuned, #motogp, #2019, we can speculate that Suzuki is creating something new for the WSBK MotoGP.
With the headlight and taillight still installed, we can also argue that Suzuki might be creating a special limited-edition machine to showcase Yoshimura’s involvement as the former’s official partner for the upcoming MotoGP season.
This also could might as well be Suzuki’s answer to the market that runs the Yamaha R1M, Kawasaki ZX-10RR and Honda Fireblade SP2 lethal machines right all the way up to the hyper machines like BMW’s HP4 Race or Ducati 1299 Superleggera.
Nonetheless, all these are just speculations at the moment. Be sure that the new Suzuki machine will make use of the same mechanicals. The 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor will run on the same 999.8 cc belts out a 201 hp, and the peak torque it produced is 87 lb-ft. The power numbers for the new machine might bump up in light of losing some mass.
It will come with driving modes, 10-level traction control, launch control, quick-shifter and slipper clutch. Mechanically, Showa BPF (Big Piston Front) forks and BFRC lite (Balance Free Rear Cushion lite) shock at the rear, developed for MotoGP handle suspension duties. Brembo Monoblock brakes come with ABS.
Wait it out till the EICMA 2018 happening in a couple of months to know more on this special edition Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R.
