Gets a vintage livery and a host of accessories

The British leg of the Japanese firm’s retro race team, Team Classic Suzuki, has been actively hitting the tracks at various classic endurance races across the globe with their Katana and XR69 vintage models.

Now, it has come with a one-off make of the new GSX-R1000 with its retro livery. A niche paint job and some sweet official Suzuki bolt-on accessories with Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme to entice the new breed of riders and racers. And if we manage to render the needed eyeballs, Suzuki has not refrained from thinking of having a limited production run of the same.

The 2001 entry kid GSX-R1000 is regarded as one of the most usable supersport bikes on sale in the two-wheeler market, which is tamable effectively by both the amateur as well as seasonal bikers. Launched to the world almost three decades ago, the GSX-R 1000 has humbled more than a million customers and has single-handedly transformed the open sportbike class constantly. People soon called it “The King of Sportbikes.”

Built by engineers with years of experience and dominations in production-based Superbike, Superstock and Endurance races worldwide, and most importantly the WSBK MotoGP technology, the 6th gen 2017 GSX-R 1000 is the most compact, the most aerodynamic and the best-handling GSX-R 1000 ever.

Giving it a whole new set of characters, Team Classic Suzuki have recreated yet another iconic racing livery on this modern GSX-R. It adopts an element of early GSX-R750 colors, most notably with the blue stripes across the fairing. The graphics on them also include title sponsor Suzuki Vintage Parts which caters to owners of older GSX-Rs from the range’s 33-year history.

The GSX-R1000R Team Classic Suzuki replica also get kitted with more than a dozen items from Suzuki’s genuine accessory range including brake and clutch lever guards, engine case savers, carbon frame cover, pillion seat cowl, fuel cap trim, carbon air intakes, double bubble screen, axle sliders and paddock stand bobbins.

The 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC motor runs on the same 999.8 cc belts out a 201 hp, and the peak torque it produced is 87 lb-ft. It comes with driving modes, 10-level traction control, launch control, quick-shifter and slipper clutch. Mechanically, Showa BPF (Big Piston Front) forks and BFRC lite (Balance Free Rear Cushion lite) shock at the rear, developed for MotoGP handle suspension duties. Brembo Monoblock brakes come with ABS.

It is by far the most advanced, most exciting Suzuki GSX-R in history.
