The Hawk 11 neo-cafe racer is the most exciting new model to come from Honda for a long time and is the closest thing to a 'modern classic' yet.

Honda Hawk 11 Model features in New teaser Videos

Honda is getting serious about its new Hawk 11 models and has released two teaser videos showing the first close up details.

The video reveals that the chassis will be the same as found on the Africa Twin, as is the 1084cc parallel twin engine. That means a power output of 101bhp and a torque figure of 77lb.ft. Drive will be through a six-speed gearbox and there is the possibility that a DCT option will be offered. Front suspension appears to be via inverted forks as found on the NT1100 sports tourer.

If the Hawk 11 is a 'modern classic', then the emphasis is definitely on the 'modern' part of that description. Rond headlight and mirrors are one thing and the half-fairing another and it has echoes of the Triumph Speed Triple RR. The parallel twin engine will keep things nice and slim and it is unlikely that Honda will saddle it with anything other than top-shelf suspension and braking components.

What is definite is that this is a cafe racer for the 21st century, again very much in the style of the Speed Triple.

We can only hope that it stays close to the concept bike shown at various shows over the past year or so.
