After acing electric sportbikes and nakeds, leading EV-maker Energica has now forayed into the ADV space by taking the wraps off its first adventure tourer (possibly the world’s first, too), the Experia. Let’s jump right into its details.

2022 Energica Experia - Design & Features

As you’d expect from an ADV, the Energica Experia has a tall, commanding stance which, coupled with the bike’s long windscreen, sleek nose, and edgy side panels, makes it handsome. Meanwhile, the fascia keeps the Energica flavor intact, courtesy of the signature bi-projector headlamp.

Topping off the likable design are even more features, with the list including:

- Cruise control- LED lights- TFT instrument cluster- Two USB charging ports- Keyless ignition- Traction control - Four riding modes and regenerative modes - Cornering ABS- Parking assist with reverse gear

All this brings the Experia right on par, (if not better equipped) with its gas-powered counterparts, such as BMW's middleweight tourer, the F 900 XR.

2022 Energica Experia - Battery & Motor

Under the skin, Energica has equipped the Experia with a mid-mounted 102 horsepower (peak) motor and a 22.5kWh battery pack. Both the battery and motor work in conjunction to give the bike an electronically limited top speed of 112mph along with a maximum claimed range of 260 miles (city). The latter comes down to around 130 miles when ridden strictly on the highway.

Even if you do run out of juice, you’ll be happy to know that the bike supports 24kW fast charging, which takes only 40 minutes to juice it up (0 to 80 percent). The onboard charger, however, is a 3kW unit, and the company hasn’t disclosed how long this one takes to charge up the bike.

2022 Energica Experia - Chassis & Suspension

Unlike other Energica bikes, the Experia uses a completely new frame blending a tubular steel trellis structure with aluminum side plates, and before you start asking questions, the company claims that this is the ‘nimblest and most maneuverable’ machine out of the Energica stable. A bold claim, especially considering the bikemaker has a world championship-spec sportbike in its lineup.

As for suspension, the Experia employs 43mm USD forks up front and a mono-shock outback, both fully adjustable and sourced from ZF Sachs. Backing this up are front and rear Brembo brakes, and you’ll need every bit of them to stop this hefty 573-pound mammoth. A slight drawback here is the bike’s 17-inch alloy wheels, which limit the bike’s versatility, making it a strict on-road tourer.

2022 Energica Experia - Pricing & Availability

Energica hasn’t disclosed the pricing of the Experia yet but you can book the bike from June 2022 onwards, closely followed by deliveries in Autumn 2022. Judging from all this, the Energica Experia is more than capable of taking on middleweight ICE adventure tourers and, if anything, shows just how quick electrification is taking over the motorcycle industry.
