A group of freshly joined trainee has found themselves in a position to prove themselves. They have a task to create 10 replicas of iconic motorcycles that made Honda the brand it is today.

That’s not all. They have to create all the replicas using a Delta minibike as the base bike. ‘Make the small ones and we’ll know if you can make the big ones’.

To prove their credibility, Honda has developed a challenging approach to figure out how engineered is its new workforce. Giving them a simple task of “模 刻” (Mó kè). The art of sculpting carved mold.

Even with the base of all the replicas were same, the trainees had to pretty much start their work from scratch due to the differences each model had regarding the frames, wheels, and tires. The final full-body model will then get the original paintjob of the bike they represent along with their accessories that came in with the original model.

To make the replica models, the engineers made use of similar tricks of the trade used on making the original in normal scale. Production will start by sketching the designs in the software and create a clay model allowing errors to be corrected before they could make the final work.

Of course, they had to make sure the replicas were well proportioned to the legends they represented and could pass as the original model. The ten models included in this feat are:

1. Honda RC143 1961

2. Honda RCB1000 1976

3. Honda NR500 1979

4. Honda NSR500 1989

5. Honda NR 1989

6. Honda NSR250R 1990
